Pianist Diana Du is an active soloist and chamber musician throughout the U.S., China, and Europe. Ms. Du joined the piano faculty of the Winchester Community Music School in Boston in 2019. She has been teaching piano lessons for students of all ages since 2012.

 

Ms. Du obtained her Bachelor and Master degrees in piano performance from New England Conservatory (NEC) under the guidance of world-renowned pianist Prof. Vivian Hornik Weilerstein. At NEC, she was the recipient of the Merit Scholarship and Dean’s List Honor. She was selected to perform Scriabin’s Sonata No. 2 at NEC’s famous Jordan Hall on the 100th anniversary of Scriabin’s death, Maurice Ravel Bolero for two pianos for the piano department festival series, and Paul Schoenfield Piano Trio “Café music” and Tchaikovsky Piano Trio for NEC's chamber gala concerts. She was invited to perform in festivals including Ecoles d’Art Américaines de Fontainebleau (France), Kneisel Hall Chamber Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Brevard Music Center. She was selected to play in master classes for renowned artists including Seymour Limpkin, Robert MacDonald, Hong-Kuan Chen, Meng-Chie Liu, Ronan O'Hora, Yong Hi Moon, Benjamin Hochman, Xiao Hu, and Du Huang. 

 

Ms. Du is dedicated to music education and community engagement. In China, she arranged piano performances and master classes for thousands of primary and middle school students, which received positive reviews from schools and public. In the U.S, she was the recipient of the NEC Community Performances Partnership Fellowship, and has engaged in yearly performances in communities and retirement centers. Ms. Du served as an accompanist at Boston Children Chorus (BCC), and performed with BCC at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston Contemporary Museum, and Boston Children's Museum. Ms. Du is a member of the Boston Chinese Musicians Association. She was invited to perform in the Chinese Spring Festival Gala at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2017), as well as the New England Chinese Professionals Lunar New Year Gala (2017).

 

After years of study, Ms. Du wants to share her love of piano music and knowledge learnt from great musicians with her students. Her teaching philosophy is to awaken and nurture musical interest and artistic excellence of students. She strives to teach solid musical and technical skills to meet their needs and learning styles in an interactive and joyful learning process.
